Tasting Notes:
A deep garnet hue introduces this 2023 Napa Valley Red Blend from Tenuta Caldera Estate. The nose opens with expressive aromas of blackberry, dark cherry, and cassis, layered with hints of cocoa, espresso, and warm baking spice. Subtle notes of cedar and vanilla from oak integration add complexity. On the palate, the wine is rich and structured, with velvety tannins and balanced acidity. Flavors of black plum, mocha, and toasted oak carry through a long, polished finish with a touch of minerality and elegance.
Winegrowing Notes:
2023 growing season in Napa Valley was marked by a long, moderate climate with steady daytime warmth and cool evenings, allowing for extended hang time and optimal phenolic development. This resulted in excellent color concentration, balanced sugars, and preserved natural acidity. Fruit for this blend was sourced from select vineyard blocks across the valley floor and lower benchlands, planted in well-draining volcanic and alluvial soils. Careful canopy management and precise irrigation practices ensured even ripening. Each lot was fermented separately with gentle extraction techniques to preserve varietal character, followed by aging in French oak to enhance structure and complexity before final blending.
